HALF AWAKE

 

 

As soon as gentle breeze extends

       Her hands to touch the rays of light,

The sun arises, and transcends

       the balance of the day and night.

 

A sleepy child in a daze

       With a confounded, startled stare

Sits, gazing straight into my face,

       Embarrassed by his floppy hair.

 

Don’t worry, you can feel at ease,

       I won’t disturb your warmful calm.

You’ve offered me a poignant feast,

       Your light has purified my soul.
