TRIO

 

 

One tune, one melody is heard

In music that’s been improvised.

 

An old man, bending to the bird,

Sings out the same song with his eyes.

 

Enframing their duet, a pine

Brings them together in accord.

 

And heeding symbols of the time,

I listen in, without a word.
